Frequently Asked Questions
What makes Tucco coffee “specialty coffee”?
Tucco coffees are true Colombian specialty microlots — hand-selected at peak ripeness, processed with precision, and roasted at origin to preserve flavor integrity. Each lot meets specialty standards for quality, traceability, and cup score, supported by direct partnerships with farmers in Huila.
Where do Tucco coffees come from?
All Tucco microlots are sourced from the mountains of Huila, Colombia, a region known for its ideal altitude, microclimates, and rich volcanic soil. Each coffee is fully traceable to its farm of origin.
Where is Tucco coffee roasted?
Every Tucco microlot is roasted at origin in Colombia, ensuring each bean is transformed at peak freshness and in the climate where it was grown. This preserves terroir, character, and authenticity.
Do you offer whole bean coffee?
Today, Tucco coffees are offered as ground microlots, milled at origin for freshness.
Whole bean specialty coffee will launch soon as we expand our collection.
How fresh are Tucco coffees?
Tucco coffees are roasted in small batches and shipped to the U.S. shortly after production. Each bag includes roast and batch details for transparency. Because they’re roasted at origin, flavor is developed and sealed at the source.
Are your coffees ethically sourced?
Yes. Tucco works directly with coffee producers in Huila through transparent partnerships that prioritize fair compensation, sustainable practices, and respect for the land.
How should I store my coffee?
Keep your coffee in its original Tucco bag, sealed tightly, in a cool and dry place away from sunlight. Do not refrigerate or freeze — both affect flavor.
Are the packaging materials sustainable?
Yes. Tucco packaging is crafted from eco-friendly, recyclable, and biodegradable components, aligned with our commitment to reduce waste and honor the land that makes our coffee possible. The only non-compostable elements are the food-safe inner liner and the degassing valve, which are required to preserve freshness and protect the coffee from oxygen and moisture. We continually explore new materials as technology evolves, with the long-term goal of achieving fully compostable packaging without compromising quality.
Do Tucco coffees change seasonally?
Yes — and that’s the beauty of microlots. Varietals, processes, and flavor notes evolve with each harvest. Tucco releases new lots throughout the year to celebrate Colombia’s seasonal diversity.
